We talk a lot about funnels to sell our products but we often get involved more by the enthusiasm of the strategy than by its real effectiveness and difficulty of implementation.

Funnels can be as simple as they are extremely complicated and, contrary to what many may think, they don’t just involve the creation of landing pages (specific pages on which to bring visitor traffic).

So, therefore, what are the steps?

Step 1: Set up an advertising campaign to bring traffic (new people) to your pages.

Step 2: Create a first page, the one on which you will send web traffic, to capture the e-mail address offering in exchange a bonus, a gift, useful content in other words a lead magnet.

Step 3: Create a second page where you will sell a low-cost product. (Now you are trying to upsell them).

Let’s give an illustration quickly to explain to you the gibberish I wrote above.

A Facebook user sees an ad that promises something, perhaps a free ebook or course or a webinar, and clicks on the ad.

This is the first important action to look out for: persuading a stranger to CLICK on an ad to get something that solves a problem or need.

Here the keys to success are three:

First of Identify the right audience: It may sound easy but it isn’t and shooting in the pile doesn’t help. 

We need to start from a logical investigation and ask ourselves a few questions:

  • Who do I contact?
  • What are these people looking for?
  • What problems do they have?
  • What do I have that can help them concretely?
  • What are their intentions regarding this issue?

Create a product to give as a gift that appeals to you. I’ll tell you more about it shortly, but the concept is simple: if you give something it must be really useful. The idea of ​​giving is not enough to convince someone to join your marketing funnel.

Write the ad convincingly: By leveraging the needs of the audience you are addressing, you present an easy, quick, and actionable solution to a specific part of the problem. 

Also, don’t overlook the landing page title, being the first thing the visitor will see, and its loading speed (no one likes to wait).

As soon as the user clicks on the link in the advertisement, he is sent to the first page which is the OPTIN, or a page that captures the contact. He is asked to leave his email in exchange for downloading a product or viewing confidential content.

A few quick tips on how and what to write in your ebook:

  • Don’t make the mistake of inserting a lot of content, from 3 to 5 pages at most.
  • Analyze, explain, and solve a specific micro problem.
  • If possible, use a step by step or progressive method.
  • Use a catchy title that already contains the promise of results, for example: “How to lose 3 kg in 6 days with these 5 tips”
  • Remember: people have come this far to get something that changes their life in some way, but definitely for the better.

As soon as your lead has confirmed his email, he is transported to the second landing page, where this time you offer him an upsell. The best thing in these cases is a low friction purchase that implements the free content they just downloaded.

Two important things here:

  • It must be valuable content that complements what he/she already has – not a duplicate – and that is consistent with the intentions that led our lead to make this journey so far.
  • The cost has to be low – what I call low friction – because we are talking to a stranger who barely knows us and trust is not yet at the highest level. Usually, something ranging from 500 – 2000 Naira is proposed.

If your landing page is effective you will have a good sales conversion rate to cover the costs of the ad campaign because, of course, we will never make a good profit by selling small 500 Naira products this way.
